First of all, may we wish you all a very happy and peaceful 2015.
We were delighted so many people in the village joined us for services over the Christmas period. After a roof raising School service, it was lovely to see so many of the children taking part in the readings at our 4 o’clock Crib service. Our service of Nine Lessons and Carols at 6.30pm was equally well attended, and was made all the more special by being signed for the deaf by Andy Higgins. We were delighted to welcome Paul, Mary and Scot the hearing dog, who travelled all the way from Huddersfield to join us especially for the service. It was also particularly lovely to welcome several of the children from High Legh Primary school, who wished the congregation Merry Christmas both in song and sign language.
As regular Newsletter readers will be aware, the Reverend Jen has left St John’s and moved to a full time post at St Cuthbert’s, Ormesby, Middlesborough. We, and many of you, miss her greatly, and wish her every success in her new ministry. Options are being investigated and discussed regarding future ministry at St Johns, and it will be several months before any decision is made.
Our first and foremost concern is for a secure future which will reach out and extend our ministry. We are very grateful for the support of the ministry team and for all the visiting Ministers who have provided continuity of worship each Sunday. There will be a 10.00am service every Sunday, usually Communion, and 6.30 Evensong on the first Sunday and a 6.30pm Evening Praise on the 3rd Sunday of each month, whenever possible. St John’s is a friendly community and we do hope that you will join and support us at our services and events

As we move into the New Year we are looking forward to the annual Church Quiz on 7th March, so start planning your team. There is a Garden Event over the weekend of the Early May Bank Holiday.
Margaret and Brian Green are planning a Spring Garden Safari and are looking for 6 to 8 gardens to open in the village, close enough together for visitors to walk around. If you would be interested in opening your garden to help raise funds for St John’s Church, please contact Margaret on 01925 752630 for a chat about it. The plan will be to hold the event over the early spring bank holiday weekend (May 3rd). Further details will be published on Noticeboards, the Spring Newsletter and on “Whats on” and www.highlegh.org.uk.
During Easter Holy Week there will be:
Eucharist service on Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm
