High Legh Residents – Are you fit, well, able and willing to help your Neighbours?
The virus threatens us all, but some in our community are particularly vulnerable. We have a great team of volunteers who are willing to become “Street Champions” – to provide support to people who need neighbourly assistance in the street where they live or another street nearby. I know that many people have already made offers of help to their neighbours, but we need to know that every street in High Legh has someone who a resident can turn to. No one should be left to face this peril alone.
High Legh Street Champions are all volunteers who are
- in good health
- car drivers
- careful to observe safety rules about maintaining safe distances, hand washing and avoiding surface contact and other government advice
The announcement about Lockdown means that people who are out and about may need to justify their activities to the authorities, so we are working on an ID system for “approved volunteers” who are willing to go shopping or collecting essential medication for their neighbours. ***Click here for more information about volunteering and the lockdown.
We are plugging into other support networks that are being created in Cheshire so that Volunteers can access help, training, advice about good practise and signposts to providers of specialist assistance.
We have set up a whats app group and facebook page to provide Street Champions with regular information and updates.
