High Legh Community Association

High Legh Community Association is a non-political, non religious organisation, and a registered charity (Registered charity number; 511391) Full membership is open to and automatically enjoyed by all residents of High Legh over the age of eighteen; all residents under the age of eighteen are junior members.

The affairs of the association are managed by the Council, a small group of volunteers elected annually from the general membership, alongside representatives from local organisations such as the Parish Council and the Church.

In the main, the Council manages and runs the Village Hall which it leases from The Parish Council. The members of the council come together to raise funds and organise social events, organise Sunday Teas, co-host the annual 10K run, host the website and produce a newsletter, which is delivered 3 times a year to all residents in the area.

The Village Hall is successfully let to a number of regular users, and on a more casual basis for parties and private events.

All monies raised from regular lettings cover hall expenditure and upkeep.

The association also awards grants of up to £250 to deserving initiatives from sports and recreational organisations and individuals within the village (SERF grants). If you would like to be considered for a grant, please apply in writing to the Council Treasurer (details on the contacts page), who will also supply you with the conditions you need to meet to qualify.

The Council members formally meet 6 times a year and host an AGM to which all residents are invited. A short presentation at the AGM will review the previous year and present the accounts. The next AGM is due to be held in November 2024; details will be posted here, on community noticeboards and in the newsletter nearer the time.

If you want to come along to any of our regular council meetings to see what we are about, then please just let one of the council members know and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

History

The Community Association was formed in 1979 by residents of the village who recognised a need for an organisation of this nature. In the main, it manages the Village Hall, which it leases from the Parish Council.

Thanks to previous dedicated council members, we now have a well-established charity and a Village Hall to be proud of.

Get Involved

The Community Association is always looking for volunteers as either council members or part time helpers. If you have any time to spare, please contact Trish Adams on 07593 342615.

We would particularly like to hear from anyone willing to get involved with general maintenance of the village hall and also from junior members of the Association who may like to be considered for junior council membership.
